CONNECTIVES TO EXPRESS CONTRAST AND SURPRISE


ALTHOUGH, EVEN THOUGH, IN SPITE OF, and DESPITE are all used to link two contrasting ideas or show that one fact makes the other fact surprising. HOWEVER means ‘but’.
